The Sower Review
Current Issue of The Sower

Welcome to The Sower Review, the official website of The Sower quarterly international catechetical journal.

In 2009, The Sower celebrated it 90th anniversary of publication! Thanks to the foresight of its founder, Canon Francis Drinkwater, and now carried on by Maryvale Institute of Birmingham, England, The Sower aims to strengthen the roots of the Catholic Faith sown in the hearts and minds of the faithful. Primarily for Directors of Religious Education, professional catechetical leaders and religious educators, The Sower is an excellent means by which Catholic adults may deepen their understanding of and love for the faith, thus, enabling them to hand on the faith to others with greater confidence and creativity.

The Sower breaks open the sources of the Faith, namely, Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the General Directory for Catechesis, and other relevant church documents in the area of evangelization and catechesis. Read what many catechetical leaders have to say about The Sower by clicking here.

As a US or Canadian subscriber to The Sower you not only receive four full-color printed issues per year, you also receive online access to back issue articles in both English and Spanish. For those outside North America, contact Maryvale Institute for permission to copy individual articles. Please visit the other pages of this Web site to learn more about The Sower and its partners and contributing authors.

The Pedagogy of GodThe "pedagogy of God" lies at the heart of the restoration currently advancing in the area of religious education and catechesis.
The Church has a unique form for transmitting the Faith. The Church calls this the “pedagogy of God.” It is from this pedagogy that catechesis should take its inspiration and its life.
